This prime location offers easy access to recreation, restaurants, shopping and popular attractions, yet it’s just far enough away to enjoy the quiet solitude of the Adirondacks.
Diamond Point History
Diamond Point is named after Diamond Island, the southern most public island on Lake George. Now a day-use area for boaters and picnicking, Diamond Island was once the site of Lake George’s only naval military engagement during the American Revolution. The Battle of Diamond Island took place on September 24, 1777.
Today, Diamond Island is a popular spot for boaters, featuring six docking sites and four picnic areas with charcoal grills, fireplaces and picnic tables, as well as a reservable pavilion. Across from the island, the hamlet of Diamond Point was established with the opening of its post office in 1877.
